New health insurer takes in €35m in first year

GloHealth attracts 52,000 customers during first year in Republic

Health insurer GloHealth has taken €35 million in insurance premiums from 52,000 customers in its first year in business.

It has created 70 jobs since it started up in July last year and attracted such customers as Dell, Facebook and two companies that have just set up here, Squarespace and Quantcast.

It is attracting about 1,000 customers a week and half of those who rang up for a quote switched to GloHealth, according to the company, which says it processed 85 per cent of outpatient claims on the day they were received and 100 per cent within three days.
