House prices surged more than 13 per cent in the past 12 months as buyer demand outstripped supply.

Property websites myhome.ie and daft.ie both recorded a major pick-up in headline inflation in their latest quarterly reports, while noting that the supply of homes was significantly lower than a year ago. Eoin Burke-kennedy has the details.

The massive rise in Government spending necessitated by the pandemic will limit the potential for future tax cuts, Ibec has warned.
