Goodbody Stockbrokers has been appointed corporate broker for UK gaming firm Playtech, securing its first such role for a FTSE 250 company that does not have any Irish connections.

The move follows the hiring of Piers Coombs last year from Canaccord to head up the Irish firm's corporate business in the UK and make headway in London's mid-cap market.

The appointment is “a clear demonstration of Goodbody’s ability to grow our UK-facing corporate business since the opening of our London office”, Mr Coombs said.

Goodbody opened a London office in 2015, with its research focus in the UK mainly on the gaming and leisure, construction materials, airlines and financial services sectors.
