Bank of Ireland funds almost 300 new student beds in Dublin

Bank of Ireland has provided funding for new accommodation that will house almost 300 students in the Liberties area of Dublin from next month.

The new building, called the Tannery, comprises 296 student beds and adjoins the current New Mill student accommodation scheme, a 400-bedroom complex that is also funded by Bank of Ireland and opened last summer.

Between New Mill and the Tannery, Bank of Ireland has provided development funding of €70 million to the Global Student Accommodation Group (GSA), which develops student accommodation.

The building contains on-site laundry facilities, a cinema room, an arcade room, high-speed broadband and wifi, study areas, and all utility bills are included.

Bank of Ireland Corporate Banking head of property finance Paul McDonnell said the scheme is “one of a number” the bank is supporting in the purpose-built student accommodation sector, providing 2,400 student accommodation units.

“GSA has an excellent track record in the student accommodation sector and this development further highlights our ongoing commitment to that sector,” he said.

“As with all of our customers, we’ve fostered a longstanding relationship with GSA and continue to work very closely with the team to support their ambitious plans in Ireland.”
