Trade figures released today by the Central Statistics Office show the value of merchandise exports, from January to October 1999, rose by 14 per cent compared to the same period in 1998.

The value of merchandise exports for the period was more than £42 billion (€53.33 billion). The trade surplus was £14.5 billion, an increase of 29 per cent over the same period in 1998.
