Hopes for early access to the important Egyptian beef markets suffered a setback yesterday. Egypt, the biggest non-EU market for Irish beef worth £200 million (#254 million) annually, yesterday announced it would not take beef from any of the EU countries for at least another four months. It had been due to review the ban - which followed the BSE scare in Europe - on June 7th. This will not now happen until October 7th.
