Planning permission granted for 431 houses in Kilcock

Scheme will be built in three phases with 157 properties to be completed in next 12-18 months

Planning permission has been granted for the construction of 431 residential properties in Kilcock, Co Kildare.

The development by BHG Property Kilcock Limited comprises mid-terraced, semi-detached and detached houses with between two and four bedrooms. Additionally, the site will house a two-storey creche and have a 230 metre boulevard .

It is understood that the site, located to the South-East of Kilcock town centre, will be built in three phases with 157 properties being completed by the end of phase one.

Speaking to The Irish Times, Ronan Barrett, the director of the company behind the scheme, said: "We see it as a good location for family homes that will suit those who either want to work in Maynooth or work in Dublin.

"It's a good commuter town in the sense that Irish Rail have plans to increase the frequency of trains into Dublin," he said.

While Mr Barrett acknowledged that there is still work to be done before construction begins, he said it is expected that the first phase will be completed in the next 12 to 18 months.

It is unclear what price the properties will be marketed at, however, they are being pitched at families.

A nearby development called Millerstown is offering newly-built three bedroom semi- detached houses from €325,000, four bedroom semi-detached houses from €375,000 and five bedroom detached houses from €500,000.
