A key site which was formerly occupied by Esmonde Motors in the centre of Stillorgan village in south Co Dublin is certain to attract considerable interest among development companies when it goes on the market today on the instructions of receiver Grant Thompson.
James Meagher of Knight Frank is quoting in excess of €5 million for the 1.39 acres which have mixed-use zoning. The site could possibly accommodate a five- or six-storey building with at least 1,858sq m (20,000sq ft) of retail space on the ground floor and up to 80 apartments on the upper floors.
Alternatively, it could be used for motor sales though the former showrooms, service station and workshops are in a poor state of repair and will inevitably be demolished.
The site also includes a detached house and an extensive yard.
The Esmonde Motors complex adjoins the former Blakes restaurant which is also in receivership.
It is directly opposite the Orchard public house, is close to Stillorgan Shopping Centre and only a short distance from UCD and the Sandyford Luas stop on the Green line.
Mr Meagher said that with the current shortage of high-profile sites in south Dublin, the Stillorgan property was certain to attract keen bidding.
