The Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland has recommended that the Central Bank become more involved in the audit process, through sharing information with auditors and probing audit scope and findings. In a wide ranging submission to the Review Group on Auditors, the institute acknowledged that some change was necessary to restore public confidence in the capacity of the profession to self-regulate.
