A Dublin Airport car park closed since 2020 will reopen on time for peak summer travel next year, its new managers confirmed on Wednesday.
The related squeeze on parking space had angered travellers at the country’s biggest airport, particularly as travel resumed after Covid lockdowns.
Apcoa said on Wednesday it had taken over the 42-acre site, formerly Quickpark, with 6,100 spaces just 1.5km from the airport. It plans to reopen the facility on March 25th, just as the summer air travel season gets under way.
Frequent shuttle buses serve the site on Swords Road. Neil Cunningham, managing director of Apcoa Ireland predicted it would meet growing demand at the airport.
The former Quickpark site has been closed since 2020. A bid to buy it from airport operator DAA was blocked by competition regulators.
Apcoa manages car parks with a total of 1.8 million spaces across 13 European countries.
