Tech Tools: Fresco KitchenOS

The new software platform for would-be cooks can be used across many compatible appliances and websites

If all goes as planned, the smart kitchen of the future will be much easier to navigate. Instead of multiple platforms, all competing, the future smart kitchen will work together, regardless of who makes the appliances. Or at least, that is what Irish company Fresco is hoping for. The company has just launched its KitchenOS platform, a software platform that can be used across compatible appliances, websites and different displays to guide would-be cooks through recipes.

Fresco is starting with Instant Brands – the makers of the Instant Pot – but the plan is to sign up more and more kitchen brands so it can guide you through the whole process, from picking a recipe, preparing it to cooking it. And you will be able to follow the steps through the screen of your choice: a smart display, your phone, smartwatch or compatible appliance screen. The idea is to make cooking a nicer, easier experience, even for those of us without top-level skills in the kitchen.
