Tech Tools: Apple’s latest ear buds come with spatial audio

AirPods Pro have much better noise cancelling and a new chip

Apple AirPods Pro 2, €299

After several false dawns, the AirPod fans have finally got what they’ve been waiting for: updated AirPods Pro. Apple’s newest ear buds have been given a new chip and a few new features. The new H2 chip lends itself to improved noise cancelling – noticeably so – while the audio quality has also been bumped up. Spatial audio can be tailored to individual users based on the size and shape of their head and ears, using the iPhone’s TrueDepth camera to map it.

There are new touch controls on the stems so you can control volume easily with a swipe. The charging case can now be added to Find My and has a new speaker to built in to help you locate it; it can also be charged with both MagSafe wireless chargers and the charger from the Apple Watch. A solid update all round.
