Irish fintech start-up Peri has been named as one of this year’s innovation award winners at CES 2025 in Las Vegas.
The company was honoured in the digital health category at the global tech conference for its wearable device that helps women track perimenopause symptoms, alongside health tech company Withings for its BPM Pro 2 cellular blood pressure monitor. Anker Innovations was also honoured in the category for its Eufy Wearable Breast Pump, and Abbott’s biowearable Lingo that tracks blood glucose.
“There is very little femtech [at CES],” said Peri chief executive Heidi Davis. “The fact that they recognised us as something that was worth giving an award to among the other wearables and cool robots, that to me was really special. It shows you that things are changing for femtech.”
Peri, which was formerly known as IdentifyHer, is aiming to improve healthcare for women experiencing perimenopause and menopause symptoms, improving their current quality of life and also helping with potential future health needs.
Symptoms that present during perimenopause can also be linked to chronic disease post-menopause, such as cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis. That means managing the hormonal transition is not only a quality of life issue, but has implications for long-term health.
The Peri platform provides women with data on their symptoms over time, including hot flashes, night sweats and anxiety, and combines data tracked by the sensor along with lifestyle data such as dietary habits and medication to deliver personalised insights. That can help flag if treatments such as HRT or dietary supplements are working, allowing women to make changes as a result.
Founded by Ms Davis and Donal O’Gorman in 2022, Peri has opened its waiting list ahead of its launch. It plans to target the US market this summer, with European orders opening up at a later date.
“We built Peri to get real data for women to understand what they are going through and to go to doctors and say there is something happening, and here is the data behind it,” said Ms Davis. “We’re not telling women what they should do - we are giving them the information they need to make their own decisions or with the doctors.”
CES 2025 opens officially on Tuesday and runs until January 10th.
