Carl Pei’s Nothing brand has just revealed a glimpse of its new smartphone, promising a new design and vague hints that it will do a lot more. The company has given just enough detail to create a bit of hype - something it does well - but not a lot is known about the device. It will have a transparent back, fitting in with the rest of the Nothing range, and more sustainable components, including 100 per cent recycled aluminium, more than 50 per cent bio-plastics and recycled resources in the plastic components.

Pei founded Nothing after he left OnePlus, the Chinese smartphone brand that made creating a buzz around its products to new heights as it initially sold them on an invitation only basis. The first product was the Nothing ear (1), ear buds that tried a different design approach to make them stand out from the Airpod inspired crowd.

Nothing phone (1) will be revealed in an event on July 12th, but a limited edition drop is up for sale on StockX, with the first 100 units going up on the site. Each of them will be numbered sequentially too, as part of the 48-hour auction that lasts until 1pm on June 23rd.
