Golf:The Florida Highway Patrol have confirmed that Tiger Woods has been issued with a careless driving citation, but will not face criminal charges for the one-car accident outside his Florida home in which he was involved last Friday morning.
As a result of the citation, Woods faces a $164 fine and four points being added to his driver's license.
However, there will be no further enquiries into the crash with law enforcement officers having now concluded their investigation.
"Despite the celebrity status of Mr Woods, the Florida Highway Patrol has completed its investigation in the same professional manner it strives to complete each traffic investigation," explained Sergeant Kim Montes.
"The investigation has concluded that Mr Woods was at fault in the crash.
"This afternoon, FHP is in the process of issuing a traffic citation for careless driving to Mr Woods.
"Careless driving is a moving violation and upon conviction may result in a fine of $164 and four points on a driving record."
According to a patrol accident report, Woods crashed his sports utility vehicle into a fire hydrant and a tree at 2:25 am in the early hours of Friday morning and suffered facial injuries as a result of the incident.
On Monday Woods subsequently withdrew from his own tournament, the Chevron World Challenge, explaining that he would not play again until 2010 as a result of the injuries he suffered.
