RACING/News: Robert Winston was taken to hospital "for observation after taking an horrific fall from Jade Warrior in the Park House Farm Maiden at Haydock Park yesterday.
As the field raced into the home bend the Dublin-born rider's reins broke, and having been thrown heavily to the ground he appeared to be kicked by a following horse.
Clerk of the course Kirkland Tellwright explained: One side of the rein broke and then the extra strain on the other sided caused it to break too, but the equipment was found to be well maintained and serviceable and it appears it was one of those things that can unfortunately happen."
Winston needed stitches in a badly cut lower lip and and he has been stood down for two days, starting today.
