A UEFA Cup place came more into focus for Bray Wanderers as they moved up to second place in the Premier Division table with this facile win over already relegated Kilkenny City. It was their 10th straight defeat.

Bray exerted pressure from the start with the reward of the opening goal coming on 25 minutes. Mick Doohan outjumped Kilkenny goalkeeper Niall Hobbart to knock down a ball into the area and Barry O'Connor stooped to head in his seventh goal of the season.

A second goal arrived in first-half stoppage time when O'Connor put Jason Byrne through on goal and while Hobbart parried an attempted lob, the striker retrieved the ball to set up Colm Tresson who shot home.

Stephen Fox added Bray's third and fourth goals in the 65th and 72nd minutes before man-of-the-match Davy Williamson got a deserved fifth two minutes later.
