Four players were sent off by referee Noel Cooney yesterday as the points were secured by Wexford at Lemybrien.
The players, three from Waterford - Ger Walsh, Michael Ahern and Michael Byrne - and one from Wexford - Willie Carley - were dismissed in the opening 15 minutes of the second period.
A goal by Jason Lawlor, five minutes before the break, saw Wexford go in leading by 1-4 to 0-4 at the interval.
Seven minutes after the restart, Wexford had their second goal from Pat Forde, leaving Waterford facing an impossible uphill battle.
