Wexford ... 3-10 Tipperary ... 0-3: Unbeaten Wexford kept their place at the top of the table with this emphatic 16-point win at Ardfinnan yesterday. The home side had the opening point from Tommy Ormonde in the fourth minute and when Fergal O'Callaghan added a second in the 13th minute they went 0-2 to 0-1 up. However, Tipperary were not to score again for 25 minutes, despite the introduction of Declan Browne after 18 minutes. Suffering from a groin injury, he had been out for over a year.
Wexford took the lead with a Mattie Forde goal in the 21st minute and the game slipped away from the home side when they were reduced to 14 men after Ormonde was sent off in the 31st minute for a late tackle. An injury-time goal from Mark Carley left Wexford 2-3 to 0-2 up at half-time.
It was one-way traffic when play resumed. Browne had an early point from play, but it was to be Tipperary's last score. Paul Berry wrapped it up for Wexford with their third goal late in the game.
