CAMOGIE NATIONAL LEAGUE:WEXFORD TOP Group Two after defeating Cork 0-10 to 1-4 while qualifying for the league final against Tipperary or Kilkenny on April 25th. Cork needed to win to force a three-way play-off that would involve Galway, Cork and Wexford.
However, forced to line out minus the injured Mary O’Connor was a big blow to their ambitions.
Wexford, playing with the wind, led 0-8 to 1-1 at the break as Áine Codd and Mary Leacy shone in the half-back line. Kate Kelly was in good form at midfield scoring five points. Gemma O’Connor netted the Cork goal on 25 minutes.
Elsewhere, Laois beat Offaly 2-6 to 1-5, thus guaranteeing their place in next weekend’s Division Three final against Down. Maggie Hogan bagged the goals.
The Division Four decider, also next weekend, will involve Kildare and Westmeath. Kildare overcome Tyrone 2-9 to 1-6.
Mayo made history on Saturday in their first underage outing at intercounty level, which ended with a 3-1 to 1-2 win over Cavan in the under-16C championship.
