The course authorities at Navan and Punchestown are crossing their fingers they will avoid the fate of today's scheduled Curragh fixture which was called off yesterday afternoon.

However, the outlook for the weekend fixtures differ considerably with a 7.30 inspection already planned for Navan this morning. A spokesman confirmed the track was unraceable yesterday and it is waterlogged in parts.

In contrast there were no problems reported at Punchestown with the track's racing director Richie Galway commenting yesterday: "At the moment it's all systems go. There was an inspection in the morning and everyone was happy with it despite their being 9 mm of rain the night before and 8 mm so far today. Saturday is forecast to be a good day but obviously we will keep our eye on the situation."

Rain has continued to play havoc with Britain's racing schedule. Only five races were possible at Haydock yesterday. However, both Doncaster and Uttoxeter are hopeful of being able to race today.

Torrential rain yesterday put paid to Haydock with two races remaining. And Towcester was called off before racing due to heavy rain. Tomorrow's jumps meeting at Sandown has already been abandoned due to water-logging.
