CYCLING: UCI president Pat McQuaid has said Wada chairman Dick Pound will visit the headquarters of cycling's governing body in Aigle, Switzerland, in two weeks.
Pound has been critical of the UCI in the past, claiming they were turning a blind eye to doping within the sport. But he has accepted an invitation from former president Hein Verbruggen to go to Aigle in order to discuss the matter in greater depth and to see what anti-doping measures are in place.
"Dick Pound is going to visit us on the 12th of April," confirmed McQuaid yesterday. "He is coming here to see what the UCI does in the fight against doping. We feel that we probably do the biggest job of any international federation in that fight, but he has made public statements contrary to that. So he is coming to Aigle, we will show him around and explain to him what we do, and asking what we can do better, if anything."
