European round-up/ITALY: Former Germany coach Rudi Voeller has quit AS Roma less than a month after taking charge of the Serie A club.
Voeller said yesterday his resignation, offered after Saturday's 3-1 defeat by nine-man Bologna, had been accepted by club president Franco Sensi.
Voeller, who quit as Germany coach after Euro 2004, said he felt he was unable to get the best out of the team.
"I am used to handling a team in a certain manner. I tried to do it my way but I understood that it was not the right one," said the former Roma striker who had been in charge for four league games, of which one was won.
Meanwhile, AC Milan came from a goal down to defeat Lazio in Rome last night.
Milan, who play Celtic in the Champions League on Wednesday, conceded a Fernando Couto goal on 36 minutes but Andriy Shevchenko scored twice in the second half after team-mate Massimo Ambrosini was sent off.
