A busy week ended with mixed fortunes for Royal Dublin's Gerry O'Donovan. The three handicapper and his partner Brendan Malley lost 3 and 2 in the final of the Dudley Cup to Roy Bradley and Frank Lyon after ending all square at the first attempt when Malley holed a monster putt on the 18th. However, O'Donovan made amends when he won the midweek singles with 38 points and followed that by winning the gross in the Blackwatch Medal with a 70. The medal winner was WJ Kelly, who carded a 65 off 13 to win by a shot from Tom Ryan (9) on 66. Irish international Liam Brady continued his recent good form when he beat John Hutchinson 5 and 4 in the final of the Ashbourne Cup.
