An injury time Ciaran Martyn goal gave UCD a share of the spoils at Brandywell last night.
The UCD striker scored in the first minute of added time to cancel out Liam Coyle's opener for the home side.
A very poor opening period ended scoreless. The second half sparked to life in the 48th minute when Coyle put the home side in front. The Derry striker was on hand six yards out to turn Tommy McCallion's right wing cross to the net.
Despite creating several opportunities Derry failed to add to their tally and they were made to pay the price in stoppage time.
Paul Dillon won possession in midfield and he found Martyn who shot home from the edge of the box.

Ronaldo played his first competitive football in 17 months to help Inter Milan to a 3-0 victory over Brasov in the UEFA Cup last night.
The Brazil striker, who had been sidelined with a knee ligament injury since collapsing in the Italian Cup final in April last year, came off the bench 27 minutes from time in the first-round tie at the San Siro.
The former world footballer of the year looked sharp considering his long absence as Inter sealed a first-leg win with goals from Stephane Dalmat, Mohamed Kallon and Luigi di Biagio.
