Tyrone come back for more

Tyrone swept to a second successive title with a resounding victory over Antrim at Clones yesterday

Tyrone swept to a second successive title with a resounding victory over Antrim at Clones yesterday. It was a commanding performance from the holders who never looked in any real danger. In a devastating opening quarter, Tyrone raced into a nine-point lead, Aidan Lynch cracking in a brilliant goal.

Acting captain Cormac McAnallen played an inspirational role, thumping over three massive points and drilling home goal number two just before half-time to give his side a commanding 2-6 to 1-0 interval lead.

Antrim did threaten briefly in the 10-minute period before the break and were rewarded with a fine goal from James Dougan after 24 minutes. But Tyrone were able to turn on the power at will, although there was a touch of good fortune about their third goal, Ryan O'Neill finishing the ball to the net after goalkeeper John Finucane had fumbled.

The champions finished in style, Gavin Wylie finishing off a flowing move with yet another goal.
