Golf: Mark Wilson has won his second PGA Tour title in three starts, swiftly doubling his career tally on Monday, when beating fellow American Jason Dufner at the second hole of a play-off for the Phoenix Open in Arizona.
Forced into an extra day by frost delays at the start of the tournament, Wilson grabbed victory with an eight-foot birdie putt after they had tied on 18-under-par - two ahead of Scot Martin Laird and Fijian Vijay Singh.
Wilson had been two ahead with six holes to go when play resumed, but parred them all and Dufner's birdies at the 16th and 17th gave him a chance of his first Tour title.
However, he missed a 20-footer on the first extra hole and then paid for driving into rough on the next.
Singh finished his round on Sunday evening, while Laird, who made the cut with nothing to spare, started again with an eight-foot birdie putt on the eighth, his 17th, to be just one behind at the time. But he could only par the 464-yard ninth and so closed with rounds of 64 and 65.
Third-round leader Tommy 'Two Gloves' Gainey, one behind with two to go, crashed out of contention with a triple-bogey seven on the driveable 17th.
He found the lake off the tee and then his chip ran up the bank and back down into the water again. It sent him tumbling down into eighth spot.
