Thirty two handicapper Irene McNamara had reason to celebrate last week when she won the Captain's Prize to the Ladies at Castletroy. A magnificent day had seen over 600 compete for Liam Minihan's prize and in a strange twist of fate, the captain was able to present the prize to one of his former work colleagues who won with a nett 72.

Mary Crowley - playing off seven - won the Class 1 prize, while Josephine Moran (28) won Class 2.
