Tipperary ... 1-11 Carlow ... 0-12: Carlow lost their fourth successive league game when going down narrowly to Tipperary at Dr Cullen Park, Carlow yesterday.

Tipperary's left full forward Benny Hickey scored the game's only goal and it would prove absolutely crucial.

That goal came 22 minutes into the second half with the sides tied at 0-10 each. Hickey gained possession 40 metres from goal and his fine individual run was matched by a brilliant finish.

The sides were level six times in all over the 70 minutes.
