Holders Terenure College kept a firm grip of their title without fully putting the squeeze on St Andrew's College in this Leinster Senior Cup second round meeting at Donnybrook yesterday.
In the process they managed a try in either half, from number eight Jamie Jenkinson (14th minute) and right wing Andrew Long (68th minute).
While there never was a shadow of a doubt that they would emerge into an intriguing quarter-final match-up with the beaten league finalists, King's Hospital, Terenure know that it will take a remarkably improved performance to progress any further.
St Andrew's College were always in the business of damage limitation. Their unorthodox outhalf, Adam Shehabeddin, varied his game to such an extent that the Terenure back row and inside backs weren't quite able to figure out his next move.
In front of him, his pack was given tremendous leadership by number eight Ian Dumbleton.
While Terenure's backs did not look all that dangerous, they have constructed a wonderfully mobile and aggressive back row of Paddy Smith, Tom Carter and Jenkin son.
