Leinster

Shane Horgan looks set to be named in the Leinster team for Friday night's opening Heineken European Cup clash with Edinburgh Reivers at Myreside. Horgan missed the Ulster (Ravenhill) and Connacht matches with a knee injury but took a full part in yesterday's training session.

Leinster coach Matt Williams' main concern is scrumhalf Kevin Putt. He suffered a calf injury last Saturday, and, while he trained yesterday morning, he spent the afternoon with an ice pack on the problem. Denis Hickie has recovered from a shoulder problem.

New Zealand outhalf Eddie Hekenui has recovered from an ankle problem and should be named in the side. The most contentious selection area is likely to be left wing and full back, with Gordon D'Arcy, Girvan Dempsey and Peter McKenna vying for two places.

Munster

Munster will almost certainly be without former Australian international second row John Langford when they meet Newport at Thomond Park in the Cup on Saturday. Despite daily treatment on his ankle, he has yet to resume training. His is coach Declan Kidney's only injury concern.

Ulster wing Tyrone Howe is expected to be named in the team for Friday night's Cup match against Cardiff at Ravenhill, having recovered from a hamstring injury. Scrumhalf Brad Free (shoulder) should also make the match. Ulster should name their side today.

Connacht

Connacht open their European Shield campaign against Beziers following a fine victory over Leinster last weekend. Flanker Ian Dillon and full back Rob Lee missed the match through injury but are expected to come back into contention when the team is announced today.
