The full extent of John Leahy's knee injury is not expected to be known until sometime tomorrow. Leahy underwent a scope yesterday for the injury suffered during Sunday's win over Clare, which limited his substitute role to just a few minutes and it is still unclear if he will play any further role in the championship.
Manager Sean Cuddy is facing an injury crisis ahead of the meeting with Wexford at Croke Park. The availability of no fewer than seven players is threatened, and Cuddy is not expected to finalise his team until later today. Full back Seamus Dooley has a groin injury; Nick Lacey is definitely out with an injured hand, while John O'Sullivan will be tested on Friday to see if he has recovered from a chipped bone in his wrist. Corner forward Damien Culleton has a broken finger; midfielder Declan Conroy a broken toe, and Colm Cleere a fractured wrist. Niall Rigney is still serving a two-month suspension and is reportedly unhappy the original referee's report was amended with the effect of doubling what he thought would be a four-week ban.
Manager Pat Holmes has been forced to make two changes from the team that won the league title for Sunday's Connacht semifinal against Sligo. Ray Connelly has been ruled out through injury at corner back and into the position moves Tom Nallen. As a result, James Nallen gets the call at centre back and Alan Roche moves back into the other corner.
There is a vacancy left at midfield for the injured David Brady. The substitues won't be finalised until later in the week, but for the moment the recent ankle injury to Kieran McDonald has kept him out of the starting line-up. The attack remains unaltered from that which faced Galway in the league decider, although there is one positional switch. Trevor Mortimer will start at full forward and Ronan Loftus in the corner.
MAYO (SF v Sligo): P Burke; T Nallon, K Cahill, A Roche; F Costello, J Nallen, N Connelly; C McManaman, AN Other; J Gill, D McDonagh, S Carolan; M McNicholas, T Mortimer, R Loftus.
Monaghan SF
Four players will make their Ulster championship debuts when Monaghan line out against Fermanagh in Enniskillen on Sunday. Jason Hughes and James McElroy form a new midfield partnership, while the other two new faces, Darren Farmer and Raymond Ronaghan, both line out in the wide half-forward positions.
MONAGHAN: G Murphy, C Flanagan, D McDermott, G McQuaid, P McKenna, J P Mone, D McArdle, J Hughes, J McElroy, D Falmer, D Freeman, R Ronaghan, D Smyth, G Meehan, K Tavey. Subs: S Duffy, N Marron, D Clerkin, S McGeough, C McCaul, T Freeman, E Lennon, F Mone, P Duffy.
Manager Pete McGrath will release his team to play Armagh later today, but he is expected to have a full panel of players available. Midfielder Alan Molloy missed the defeat to Cavan due to a cast on his ankle, but he is now back in training. Mickey Linden is also in line for a starting place despite suffering from a hamstring injury, while Shane Mulholland is also back.
Antrim SF
Manager Brian White, who was critical of comments made about his team's performance against Derry, will name his team to face Leitrim tonight. Two players suffered minor injuries during the loss to Derry (goalkeeper Sean McGreevy and forward Peter McCann), but both of them should be fit to start.
Wexford SF
Manager Ger Halligan won't finalise the team to play Westmeath in Saturday's qualifying game until later today. Among the injury worries are David Murphy (arm), Colm Morris (hamstring), Darragh Breen (hip), Jack Berry (calf) and David O'Connor (leg). Wexford concluded their preparations for Saturday's game with a challenge against Louth on Monday evening - which they lost by 1-17 to 1-15. But there was an encouraging display from Mattie Forde and he is expected to return to the starting line-up.
