After several years as a tennis member at Elm Park, Helen Cummiskey broadened her playing activities to include golf two years ago and she has already reaped handsome dividends.
She got this season off to a great start with five prize-winning performances in a six-week spell in April and May. During the summer, she failed to get her hands on any of the "majors" but maintained steady form to feature in the prizes on four more occasions and her consistency earned her the Golfer of the Year award.
As football managers are wont to say, winning the title is difficult, retaining it is even harder and she will have her work cut out next year playing off her new handicap of 16.
