Sudest can spearhead a televised double for Kieren Fallon in the £15,000-added John Guest Brown Jack Stakes at Ascot today.
Fallon has a second retainer with Ian Balding and the combination were seen to great effect at the start of the month with Grangeville, who landed a big gamble in the Ladbroke Bunbury Cup at Newmarket.
Sudest was a progressive performer in 1997 but failed to hit the target on turf last year.
However, he resumed winning ways over jumps at Doncaster, beating Shagreen by a length in a race over two and a half miles.
Sudest switched to an all-weather Flat campaign at the start of the year and rattled off three wins at Wolverhampton in January over distances from a mile and six furlongs to two miles.
Sudest then twice finished second, at Southwell and Wolverhampton, before being rested.
He now returns to action on an 11lb lower handicap mark than when one and three-quarter lengths second to Far Cry - who has since won the Queen's Prize and Northumberland Plate - at Wolverhampton in March.
Balding is a dab hand at getting his horses fit after a break and Sudest looks a good bet to oblige.
