Stradbally retain title

Stradbally... 0-12 The Nire..

Stradbally ... 0-12 The Nire ... 0-10 Stradbally deservedly retained their Waterford senior football title at Dungarvan yesterday in a replay that did not live up to the high standards of the drawn game a week earlier.

A contribution of eight points from play and frees by Niall Curran helped Stradbally to their victory after they trailed by two points at the break.

The winners led by four points with as many minutes remaining but points from Brian Wall and Pat Walsh gave The Nire hope, but they could not breach the Stradbally defence for a match-winning goal.
