Golf:PGA Tour rookie Scott Stallings claimed the first title of his career by beating Bill Haas and Bob Estes in a play-off at the Greenbrier Classic in Sulphur Springs.
The trio were 10 under after a thrilling and open final day but Stallings birdied the first play-off hole, the 18th, while the other two could only manage par.
Estes came from nowhere with a blemish-free final round of six under, while Haas carded four birdies against one bogey to round in three under.
Stallings, meanwhile, had a wild round, containing five bogeys and six birdies. The 26-year-old turned at four over, then birdied the 10th, 11th, 12th, 14th and 16th to rectify the damage.
A bogey at the par-five 17th looked like ruining his day, but he birdied the 18th, then repeated the feat with an almost identical putt in the play-off.
Only one shot separated the top eight at the end of a the final day, but overnight leader Anthony Kim dropped out of contention with a round of four over which saw him finish in a tie for 14th on six under overall.
