St Oliver's reached the second round with a hard-earned replay victory over Kilkenny CBS at Kildare

St Oliver's reached the second round with a hard-earned replay victory over Kilkenny CBS at Kildare. A Donal O'Dowd try, converted by Shane Monahan, gave the winners an early lead but the outstanding Austin Murphy replied with two penalties for Kilkenny.

The winners started the second half with a 7-6 lead and a try by Stephen Bishop consolidated their advantage.

However, Kilkenny rallied and took the lead when Murphy crossed the Drogheda line and then added the conversion.

There was little between the sides until Monahan landed a 30 metre penalty for the Drogheda school in the closing minutes.
