It's fitting that St Jarlath's College in Tuam, a traditional breeding ground for inter-county footballers, should celebrate its 200th anniversary in the year that a number of its past pupils take part in another All-Ireland football final.

Michael Donnellan, Padraig Joyce and Sean de Paor are former St Jarlath's players and Ja Fallon would also have been in action on Sunday were he not sidelined by injury. The college holds a record 41 provincial senior colleges titles and there's no sign of that trend slowing down.

St Jarlath's has also been the subject of a recently released short film, Books, Bells and Football, which not surprisingly features Gaelic football among the main elements.
