League of Ireland review:Scottish striker Alex Williams continued his dream start in Dundalk colours as his two goals helped Sean Connor's side secure a 4-2 victory over Drogheda United in a thriller of a Louth derby at Oriel Park
Ger Rowe got the home side underway with a goal in the 21st minute, only for Drogheda to draw level through Conor Kenna seven minutes later.
The visitors’ chances were dealt a huge blow on 36 minutes when full back Scott Gibb was sent off form a second yellow following a poor tackle on winger Kevin McKinlay.
Alan Mathews’s side paid the price just before the break when Williams grabbed his first from a fine Michael Daly through ball.
A penalty from Chris Turner after 57 minutes following a hand ball from Kenna was followed ten minutes later by Williams grabbing his second to secure the points.
In an exciting last five minutes, Drogheda missed a penalty through Brian King before James Chambers slotted home a consolation goal in the 90th minute.
There was also late drama at the Carlisle Grounds as Jay O’Shea fired home with the last kick of the game to earn Galway United a 2-1 victory over Bray Wanderers.
Bray had taken the lead after five minutes when Shane O’Neill caught the Tribesmen’s defence cold to score his first senior goal for the club.
Galway had several good chances to level matters when Gary Breen volleyed home from a corner just before the hour mark.
But O’Shea, who is expected to sign for Middlesbrough next week, was coolness personified as he shot past Chris O’Connor to seal the victory.
