Tottenham agree €8.1m deal to sign FC Twente winger Nacer Chadli

Belgium winger to discuss terms and undergo medical, before joining up with squad in Hong Kong

Tottenham have confirmed an agreement has been reached with FC Twente to sign the Belgium winger Nacer Chadli for a reported €8.1 million.

The 23-year-old Chadli, who will discuss terms and undergo a medical with the Premier League club, has spent three seasons in the Eredivisie with Twente and scored in both Champions League ties against Spurs during the 2010-11 season.

If the deal is completed without a hitch the winger will join his team-mates in Hong Kong, where André Villas-Boas's side will compete in the Asia Trophy.

“The 23-year-old, who has been capped on 14 occasions by his country, joined FC Twente from Apeldoorn in 2010 and went on to make 106 appearances for the Dutch side, scoring 31 goals,” read a Spurs statement.

Chadli has 14 caps after representing Morocco in a non-competitive fixture before deciding to play for Belgium.

He made a name for himself at Apeldoorn before enjoying a successful spell in the Netherlands, scoring 31 goals for Twente and prompting Spurs to make their move.

He is likely to become Villas-Boas' second major acquisition of the summer following the signing of Brazil international midfielder Paulinho from Corinthians.
