Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has signed a new two-year contract with Manchester United.

Solskjaer's present deal was due to expire at the end of the season and there had been fears the Norwegian might not play for the club again after he sustained a fractured cheekbone in a recent reserve-team outing.

United have not specified the terms of the contract but it is widely expected to be based on appearances.

The 33-year-old has only just recovered from the long-term knee injury which ruled him out for almost two seasons.
