The trip back to Belfield will be even longer than usual for the students after a hat-trick for Eamon Zayed, two goals from Gareth McGlynn, one from James McClean and a David McDaid penalty did the damage.

Six of those came in the second half after McGlynn gave Derry a halftime lead.

UCD ended the game with 10 men after Ciaran Nangle was red-carded for taking down McDaid in the box in the 80th minute.
