Eamon Zayed had the best chance of a tame first half but the Derry striker headed over when well placed five minutes before the break.

Joseph Yoffe scored the game’s only goal just after the hour mark as the Tribesmen claimed their fourth win in the last five matches between the sides.

The game of the night took place at Richmond Park as St Patrick Athletic’s came back from 2-0 down to defeat Dundalk 3-2.

Bray Wanderers continued their fine start to the season with a 1-0 victory over UCD at Belfield Bowl, with Danny O’Connor heading home well from Joe Kendrick’s free-lick after 68 minutes.
