Jose Antonio Reyes does not see his time in England as a failure but admits he got "bored" and has no intentions of returning from Real Madrid.
The Spanish winger headed to the Bernabeu on transfer deadline day as part of the deal which took Brazilian Julio Baptista to Arsenal. Both clubs expect the moves to become permanent at the end of the season.
Reyes was signed from Seville for £10.5million in January 2004 but despite becoming a regular in Arsene Wenger's first team and playing in last season's Champions League final, the 23-year-old maintains he just could not adapt to the change in culture.
"I do not think I failed in the Premiership but for players like me English football is very hard. It really does not suit me," Reyes told FourFourTwo magazine. "The whole football culture is very different there. I struggled to adapt to England and so did my family. Everything is shut at 5pm, there is nothing to do, nowhere to go. I just got bored.
"I would not say it is a relief to be back in Spain, but I am happy here. I do not even want to think about going back. I always wanted to come to Real Madrid and would love to end my career here."
Reyes has teamed up with former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy and ex-England captain David Beckham at the Bernabeu.
The winger scored during the recent 5-1 Champions League victory over Dynamo Kiev and believes the current Real side are capable of challenging for honours again.
"Clubs go through good patches and bad ones, Barcelona had not won anything for six years and now they are playing very well," said Reyes. "Hopefully we will win something this season to prove we are a new Madrid and it will go from there. I am convinced we can."
