Shay Given is reportedly undergoing a medical at Manchester City as he closes in on a move away from Newcastle. The 32-year-old Republic of Ireland international is believed to be in the north-west after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee.
Newcastle boss Joe Kinnear has revealed the club are yet to receive an "official offer" for Shay Given from Manchester City but the goalkeeper has reportedly been undergoing a medical in Manchester.
Kinnear says he is not totally confident of deals for Given and teammate Charles N'Zogbia - who has been linked with Wigan - being struck because neither club has put money on the table so far.
"There's haggling going on at the moment. We're still waiting to hear the fee," the Magpies manager told Sky Sports. "We haven't received an official offer for Shay (Given) and we're still waiting for Charles (N'Zogbia).
"The chairman is speaking to their representatives, so hopefully something can be done so that we can move on and get two more decent players into the club.
"I'm confident that we'll get those. But I'm not sure about the outgoing deals at the moment."
Ryan Taylor is due to join Newcastle, but his transfer from Wigan will not be finalised until N'Zogbia seals his switch to the JJB Stadium.
Kinnear is preparing to work around the clock to land his remaining transfer targets, although one of them will not be Liverpool centre-half Sami Hyypia after the Magpies saw a move for him rebuffed.
Kinnear said: "I have spent most of the last two days trying to get finance and players.
"I will start working on finances and players now right up until midnight and then on Monday. Fingers crossed we can get all four deals done.
"I tried for one centre-half, but got knocked back. Liverpool weren't prepared to let (Sami) Hyypia out.
"I want to get somebody with experience because of the position we are in. We have a very young back four and I just want somebody who is a good organiser."
