Drogheda United stand between Dundalk and Premier League top spot

Dundalk

and Cork City both have the opportunity to go back to the top of the

table this evening, although a win over Drogheda United for Stephen Kenny's side would put them top in a tightly contested and intriguing title race.

Having secured a good win on the road in Limerick at the weekend, Dundalk are back at Oriel this evening where beating Drogheda would be particularly sweet given how decisively their previously league meeting went this season in favour of the United Park outfit.

The hosts have concerns about the fitness of John Mountney and Stephen O’Donnell is definitely sidelined but Robbie Horgan has more to contend with as Gavin Brennan joins Stephen Maher, Cathal Brady and Michael Schlingermann in the stands due to a suspension and the manager sweats on the fitness of Michael Doyle and Shane Grimes.

Cork, meanwhile, add Dan Murray to their injury-related absentees while Stuart Taylor, in urgent need of a win or two at this stage, welcomes Sam Oji back from suspension.

In the night’s other top flight game, Sligo will look to continue their sparkling recent form with Kieran Djilali who is against struggling with a knee injury. Joseph Ndo and Alan Keane also miss out. Aidan Collins is absent against for the home team while Seán Byrne returns from suspension.
