League of Ireland:Shamrock Rovers are set to unveil former Galway United and Derry City star Alan Murphy as their latest signing.

The club has agreed terms with the 26-year-old former underage international who can play in midfield or attack.

Murphy is due to undergo a medical examination at Shamrock Rovers on Thursday.

"Alan's a player I've admired for some time," said Rovers boss, Pat Scully. "His signing means we've more options and I'm delighted he's joining Rovers.

The club also announced today that Under-21 manager Dave Campbell has been promoted to first team coach.

Campbell has been part of the club's backroom team since November 2005, following Pat Scully's appointment as first team manager.
