Sunderland have confirmed defender Paul McShane has joined Hull for an undisclosed fee. The Republic of Ireland international has signed a four-year deal at the KC Stadium having spent time on loan with Phil Brown’s side last season.

McShane, who joined the Black Cats in 2007, has yet to feature for Steve Bruce’s Sunderland so far this season.
