Kevin Doyle has withdrawn from the Republic of Ireland squad after picking up a thigh injury during QPR's 1-1 draw at home to Leeds this afternoon.

The Ireland striker played all 90 minutes at Loftus Road, laying on the pass for Jermain Jenas's equaliser in the second half, but will sit out next week's friendly against Serbia due to the thigh problem.

Rob Elliot and Andy Reid will also miss the match at the Aviva Stadium after the FAI confirmed neither player would be involved.

Reid was understood to have had an operation on a hernia problem last week, although the FAI statement indicated he would be missing because of a groin injury, while Newcastle’s Elliot is nursing a knee problem.
