David Meyler the only change in Ireland team to face Denmark

Midfielder will captain the side as he comes in in place of Callum O’Dowda

Martin O’Neill has made one change to his team to face Denmark in Ireland’s World Cup qualifying playoff second leg with David Meyler coming in to replace Callum O’Dowda.

Meyler will captain the team from midfield after missing out on the first leg in Copenhagen through suspension.

Apart from that it’s the same team that drew 0-0 in Denmark with Daryl Murphy maintaining his place up front ahead of Shane Long.

After a fine performance at the Parken Stadium Darren Randolph takes his place between the posts with Ciaran Clark and Shane Duffy maintaining their centre back partnership. Cyrus Christie plays at right back with Stephen Ward on the other side.

Robbie Brady and James McClean will occupy the wings with Harry Arter, Jeff Hendrick and Meyler set for a busy shift in the midfield as they attempt to keep Christian Eriksen quiet.

Meanwhile, Denmark have made two changes with Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen coming into the defence ahead of of Peter Ankersen, while Yussuf Poulsen replaces Andreas Cornelius in attack.
